St Mary’s became my home because my kids started coming. They always said “Dad, why don’t you come?” So one Sunday, I came and Father Brian told me about a prayer and meditation group on Tuesday nights. That group changed my life, was a total turning point. I learned to pray, sit still.

When I first came here, they wrapped their arms around me. People talk about racism, but the people in that meditation group were all white. They welcomed me.

I’ve been here when there were hundreds of people, and when there were only a few, and now we’re building back up.

I love to accept people for who they are, not make them into who I want them to be. We all come here to feel the spirit of God.
